Scenario
NathanIndigenous-led health centre, Sioux Lookout
You are a non-Indigenous Registered Psychotherapist, trained in CBT, at an Indigenous-led health centre in Sioux Lookout. You joined last month and have not worked alongside an Elder before. Nathan Wright, 23, from a northern fly-in First Nation, left college after his cousin's death and sleeps three hours a night.
In session two he says: 'I want Mary, an Elder my grandmother knows, here for some of it. And I'm going to ceremony in June.'
