    The same exam

As CCTPEI and CRPO describe it. The college and COMPASS decide what applies to you.

    1. One exam, two colleges

CCTPEI’s Registration Exam is COMPASS’s Canadian Professional Standard for Counselling and Psychotherapy (CPSCP): Entry-to-Practice Competency Assessment, the same exam CRPO uses as its Registration Examination in Ontario. New applicants to the college must pass it.

    2. Same format

Ten client simulations in three hours, nine of them scored, each split into Information Gathering and Decision Making sections. Every option carries a hidden weight from +3 to -3, and you must pass both the IG and the DM totals.

    3. Same days, same fee

Both colleges list the fall 2026 sitting as 26 to 29 October 2026, typically twice a year, spring and fall. The fee is CAD 545 plus tax, paid to COMPASS. CCTPEI’s fall 2026 registration deadline was 19 August; COMPASS needs 6 to 8 weeks to schedule candidates.

    4. What differs

The frame around the exam: CCTPEI’s competency profile for counselling therapists, its standards and PEI law. COMPASS reviews exam options for fit with Canadian, provincial and territorial law.

What the CRPO Exam Lab gives you

Built for this exam’s format. Its legal explanations are Ontario’s: for anything that turns on the law, check PEI’s.

    1. Original simulations in the exam’s format

Client cases that unfold over Information Gathering and Decision Making sections, every option weighted from +3 to -3 with its reason, written from scratch, never from recalled exam items.

    2. Timed mock exams

Ten cases in three hours, with separate Information Gathering and Decision Making results, as on the exam.

    3. A study plan to your exam date

Your weakest of the seven blueprint areas first, with an AI study guide that explains any weight you do not understand.

    4. English and French

The same cases in both languages, on a phone, tablet or computer.
